What is barre3 and Why I Fell In Love With It

What is Barre3?

Barre3 is rooted in three fitness disciplines-ballet barre, Pilates, and yoga. It’s designed to lift, lengthen, and tone your entire body. Barre3’s signature, results-oriented three-step sequence includes an isometric hold, controlled one-inch movements, and functional large range of motion. It’s a full body workout that combines strength conditioning, cardio, and mindfulness. The driving factor behind every move is to teach you to be balanced in body and empowered from within.

I didn’t have a great track record of sticking with exercise regimens. I felt like I had tried everything in the book, and nothing motivated me enough to stick with it.

About 7 years ago, I started hearing about barre3 and it intrigued me. I started doing the workouts at home in my bedroom and it quickly became my favorite workout. I was hooked and I fell in love with it! It was like no workout I had ever done before. I’m not a big fan of high intensity jumping around-especially since my inner lady muscles have weakened (thank you children). I don’t want to have to always be darting to the bathroom whenever I’m working out, and with barre3 I don’t have to.

Why I Love Barre3

I love that it’s a full body workout with low impact movements and it’s for everyone. Seriously, anyone can do it! You can modify the postures (make sure you listen to your body) to make them right for you no matter your fitness level. Each workout targets the entire body with a warm up and a cool down and focused breathing.

There are moments in the workout when I feel completely relaxed. Also, there are moments where my legs are on fire and shaking (these are called the barre3 quakes), and I feel like my booty is going to fall off! The balance is incredible! I feel physically and mentally stronger because of barre3, and I get sick a lot less often than I did before making this workout a part of my life. I used to get painful sinus infections at least a couple of times a year and now hardly at all! It’s amazing what a good workout can do for you! I swear by it.

Get Into A Routine

Since I’ve gotten into a routine, it’s easy to just keep pushing play day after day on my laptop and get my workouts done first thing in the morning. I don’t even dread waking up at 4:30 am anymore. Sleep is overrated anyway, right? My workouts have to be first thing in the morning or else my day will get too busy and I won’t make time for it. My husband gets up at 4:30 for work every day, so I just get up with him 5 days a week and get it done….and I actually love it! Even when I’m so tired, if I just get up and push play without thinking about it, I know that I will feel so much better during and after barre3 throughout the day.

Barre3 energizes me and leaves me feeling confident and less stressed. It just makes my day better. I like doing workouts at the studio too, but since I can’t leave my kids home alone and my husband leaves for work early in the morning, I mostly get my workouts in at home while my kids are asleep in the next room. No interruptions is the key for me. That’s why I love doing barre3 so early. It can sometimes be the only moment of quiet that I get all day.

Barre3 Online

You can choose to do a 10, 30, 45, or 60 minute online workout. There’s plenty of variety and hundreds of different workouts to choose from, with new workouts being added every month. There are 3 instructors leading each online class. One instructor is doing modifications, one is going turbo, which is just as it sounds-going all out, and one is doing the movements in between modified and turbo.

All you need to get started is a streaming device and a yoga mat. Sometimes you have the option to use props, but you definitely don’t have to. I love the core ball and the sliders that you can purchase from barre3. There are also bands and weights (which I already had, but can also be purchased from barre3). I have these bands and these weights from Amazon. You can still get a great workout without any of these if you don’t want to invest in anything extra at first. And you can do it from anywhere!
