Know Before You Go

We love going to Cabo San Lucas for a more low-key relaxing vacation. One piece of advice if you have never been-have your transportation from the airport to your hotel arranged in advanced. The number of people that will try to solicit you at the airport is unreal. They are just trying to get you to go to one of their timeshare presentations and will take up a ton of your time. Just keep on walking and ignore them no matter how persistent they are. It’s easy to get sucked in if you don’t know.

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort

We had such a beautiful view from our room while vacationing in Cabo that my husband, Scott, kept saying over and over and over again “I love how the ocean meets the sky.” It became a joke between all of us and we all started saying it throughout the entire vacation!

We stayed at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and it was beautiful! The resort overlooks the Pacific Ocean on a private coastal bluff.

I should mention that you cannot swim in the water by Sunset Beach, but there are two sister properties, Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos and Pueblo Bonito Rose and you can take a short shuttle bus ride to those and swim at El Medano Beach. Be sure to check out the stunning views of Land’s End from this beach! I love staying at Sunset Beach because it is more tranquil and low key, but then I also like shuttling over to the busy beach a few times. It’s the best of both worlds.

I will say that there are plenty of solicitors on El Medano Beach trying to sell you anything from sunglasses to blankets to jewelry to pictures with their real live iguanas and everything in between. You can usually bargain with them, and I wouldn’t ever pay the cost that they start out with. Our girls wanted to get their hair braided and the ladies on the beach started out telling us it would be $90 each. We ended up getting both of their hair braided for $20 total!

Food

At Sunset Beach you can do all-inclusive or not. We did a few days of all-inclusive and a few days of being on our own. I’m normally not a huge fan of all-inclusive because in my experience the food is sub-par at best, but I have to say that the food at Sunset Beach is really good. Also, I find it so beneficial with picky kids. Our daughter, Sadie, is super picky, so with all-inclusive, if she eats two bites of her food and hates it, we can always go get something else.

The Market At Quivera

We absolutely loved The Market at Quivera, which is a culinary food hall at the resort. They have Mexican, Italian, Burgers, Sushi, Asian, Crepes, Gelato, etc. It was so perfect for us and our picky eaters. I ate churros from the Mexican restaurant almost every night for dessert and they were SO good! I mean what is a vacation really if you can’t eat your weight in churros? While I was eating my churros, Scott and the girls would stand in the really long gelato line every night. They said the gelato was really good. #vacationcaloriesdontcount The Market was just so great because everyone could get what they wanted from any of the restaurants and then all meet up and sit together.

We also really liked Tazuna Japanese Restaurant-even our kiddos loved it! I recommend the Pacific Wonton Tostada…..yum!

We ate a lot of our breakfasts at La Nao. This is a buffet with really good breakfast options-and they have a donut wall. Score! We never made it here for dinner, but they had some fun themed dinner nights.

The Bistro is also a really good restaurant at the resort that’s open 24 hours. We didn’t make it to a few of the restaurants at the resort just because we mostly went to The Market or ate at the pools while swimming.

Our girls would never leave the pools if we’d let them. There are 6 pools at this property, so they were in heaven! There are golf carts that will take you anywhere on the resort. We rode them everywhere we went because the resort is pretty spread out and hilly. They arrive within a matter of minutes of calling them, so it’s super convenient.

A restaurant that we like to go to that is not at the resort is called The Office on the Beach. It’s on El Medano Beach and you sit on the beach with your toes in the sand and have a beautiful ocean view while you eat. I love the grilled sea bass tacos! Yum!

Things To Do

The girls and I did a dolphin swim through Cabo Adventures. It was so much fun! This was the first time for any of us to swim with dolphins. We danced with them, rode on their bellies, and got a sweet smooch! The girls absolutely loved it (and I did too)! We also did an ATV Desert Tour through the same company and we were not impressed. None of us enjoyed it. On a previous trip, Scott and I did something similar through Wild Canyon and enjoyed it much more, so if you’re looking for an ATV tour, I would recommend booking through Wild Canyon.

Flora Farms

I wanted to check out Flora Farms on this trip, which is a 25-acre working farm with a restaurant, spa, and quaint little shops. We had never been and I had seen beautiful pictures of it.

It was kind of a splurge to get there from our hotel as the taxi ride is $75 each way. Before we ever left Oklahoma, we booked a reservation at the restaurant, Flora’s Field Kitchen, and we booked a Farm Tour. I highly recommend making reservations in advance because it can get busy and nobody wants to wait 2 hours to eat. I get hangry! Flora’s Field Kitchen did not disappoint. The food was fresh and delicious. They serve what they grow right there on the farm and all of their meats come from a nearby 150 acre ranch. Flora Farms also offers cooking and art classes, which looked like fun. Definitely need to try those out next time.

We really enjoyed our time in beautiful Cabo San Lucas and can’t wait to return!
